Kazan is the Russian center of Muslim culture. As a rule, they are not only a place of worship, but also included in the excursion programs. Nowadays, old mosques are being actively restored and new ones are being built. During the Soviet era, many Muslim temples were demolished or dilapidated. Now there are mosques in almost all districts of the city, but they are still not enough.

Conventionally, the mosques of Kazan can be divided into two groups. The first includes those that were built 100-300 years ago, and restored in our time. And the second group - modern mosques built after the collapse of the USSR. Among the buildings belonging to the second group, there are many that can be safely attributed to the real masterpieces of modern architectural art. Centers for the development and education of children and youth have been opened at many Muslim temples. They become the cultural centers of Kazan.
