How to properly prepare your snowboard for the new skiing season, or how to make your board last much longer, and you enjoy the ride every time? I'll tell you about this in this article, namely, how it looks like preparing a snowboard for the winter season, so let's start. By the way, read my recommendations and watch video tutorials in the article how to learn how to snowboard.

If you haven’t even chosen a snowboard yet, then quickly to the store after reading my article on choosing the right board for riding. Winter is just around the corner, which means it's time not only to learn to ride, but also to prepare equipment for winter. A little off topic, but you can also read how to choose the right skiing, because where there are snowboarders, there are skiers.

To start preparing, we clean the board from dirt and dust, remove all fasteners, we only need the board and nothing else! It is imperative to degrease the surface with a solvent and remove all dirt from the cuts on the sliding surface of the board!

Preparing the sliding surface of the snowboard

As you probably guessed, the sliding surface is very sensitive and after every season there are traces of active skiing. It is easy to imagine that if you do not remove all scratches, potholes, chips from the surface of the snowboard in time, then this will seriously affect the speed and handling.

To prepare a snowboard for the new season, we need paraffin, a cycle, a cork block, an iron. We put a thick layer of paraffin on the entire sliding surface of the snowboard, take it directly and rub the entire board. We remove all excess paraffin by cycles longitudinally. Now with a brush with a hard bristle we clean the surface of the board from the residues of paraffin.

Now the most important moment in preparing your snowboard for the new skiing season is waxing it with an iron. With a preheated iron to the optimum temperature (do not ask what temperature is needed, I have a very old iron without a temperature scale), we begin to melt the paraffin over the surface of the board. We try to fill it exactly where there are very deep cuts. Of course, the best option would be to lay a layer of liquid plastic in a service center, but we are used to doing everything ourselves and why pay extra money when you can do everything yourself!

After the paraffin has been dripped onto the surface of the board, you should also walk with the iron itself over the entire sliding surface in order to evenly distribute the layers of paraffin throughout the board. Your entire layer of paraffin should not exceed 3 millimeters.

We remove all excess paraffin by cycles, as in the first step of rubbing with paraffin. You ask, why did you need to rub first with paraffin? The first paraffin layer in this way makes it possible to drive deeper the surface restoration material and obtain an ideal surface for adhesion already to the liquid paraffin layer.

Next, we begin to rub or polish the surface of the board with the help of a cork block, thus, the first stage of preparing the snowboard for the new season is over.

Preparing your snowboard with edge sharpening

The second stage of preparing your snowboard for winter is through sharpening the edges with a regular file. When sharpening edges, there is one rule - sharpening occurs from nose to tail.

The easiest way to sharpen the edges is with a special device - a canto cutter. It is sold in the same stores where snowboards are sold, at the moment almost no one uses files for one simple reason, it is easy for them to ditch a snowboard.

The main thing is to observe the sharpening angle! If you can't do it yourself, bring them to the workshop where the skates are sharpened, here you can easily sharpen them at any angle or buy a canto cutter, it is not expensive.

Let's go a little deeper into philosophy, edges have several edges - this is a side edge and a base edge. If only the side edge of the edge is sharpened, excellent slope grip can be achieved. If you sharpen the base edge of the edge, the speed will be faster. I can only advise one thing, sharpen both surfaces and do not suffer.

If you decide to go through the file at your own peril and risk, then take a flatter file with a less rough surface such as a file, the main thing is to observe a sharp angle when sharpening.

But still, I recommend that you entrust the preparation of your snowboard to professionals from the service centers of your city. The cost of preparing a snowboard for the skiing season will fully fluctuate from 500 to 800 rubles, I think it is better to give that kind of money in one season than to go buy a new board later, if you do not succeed on your own. Do not forget that your life depends on the quality of the board preparation!

If your snowboard needs any bindings, boots or other things, I advise you to look into the Planet Sport store, here you will find everything at the lowest prices, I have already ordered a pair of T-shirts and a jumpsuit for riding.

Do not forget to look into the Sportmaster store, there are many useful things you can buy inexpensively >>

Well, that's all, the preparation of the snowboard is over, now you can install the bindings, attach them well and go try your almost new snowboard on your favorite slopes. I wish you a lot of snow, drive and good skiing pleasure this winter. I hope my advice helped you and you were satisfied with the article on travel-picture.ru.
