Under the boring term "zakaznik" in the New World, there is a treasure trove for those who like to wander along the paths and fantasize about the disappeared peoples. I climbed in these places three times - it's time to launch fashionable author's tours :)
This is probably the most interesting place in Crimea! There are so many things: the Golitsyn trail with stunning views, grottoes, waves beating against the rocks, the intoxicating aroma of juniper in the hot air, wild beaches under the cliffs, the most picturesque Cape Chicken (Rhinoceros), the valleys of Hell and Paradise, the stairs and the sanctuary of the Taurus, 2500 years old, Adam's bed, stone labyrinth, Kosmos peak with Golitsyn's chair and, finally, Karaul-Oba - Watchtower mountain. Golitsyn's trail: Chaliapin's grotto, Back door and Cape Kapchik
Start at the Golitsyn trail in Novy Svet. It is easy, even a small child will pass! Enjoy cool views along the way and peer into the spacious Chaliapin grotto. Breathe in the intoxicating scent of juniper in the hot air, catch the salt spray, and swim on the wild beach below the cliff.
Walk to Cape Kapchik - the best view of Cape Chicken (aka Rhinoceros) opens from its isthmus. I love this cape very much. And from there you can see the Tsarsky beach.
This is where the fun begins for adventure lovers! Not far from the prohibiting sign, do not miss the stairs to the right to the Through grotto (Back door). It is closed by a lattice, but we climbed through the bottom. Inside is a narrow wind-blown passage with a colony of bats. Here are its coordinates: 44.819221, 34.908045.
Go back upstairs. On the isthmus behind the prohibitory sign there is a small and cozy observation deck, but an unsafe path leads to it over the cliff.
From this point, tourists usually return back through the juniper grove to the village. Few enthusiasts go further, and there is so much beauty hiding there! I advise you to go on a visit to the Taurus, as well as visit Space, Heaven and Hell. Are the titles impressive? Then follow me!
Heritage of the Taurus, Space, Heaven and Hell
From Kapchik go along the Sukhaya ravine through the juniper forest, cross the ravine and climb the gentle marked path following the sign to Karaul-Oba and Kosmos peak. There will be amazing views along the way, especially I like the Bonsai observation deck. It smells deliciously of pine needles. Pay attention to the pines of Stankevich - they are so gnarled and cling to the slopes with their roots.
By the way, if you go straight along the Sukha beam to the sea, you will come to the Tsarskoe beach.
Then a couple of steep climbs where you need to grab roots and stones, and you are there! Here you can take a breath and think about the eternal. They say that earlier there was a sanctuary of the Taurus. The coordinates of the sanctuary: 44.819082, 34.894621.
From here you can climb the Kosmos peak, as well as descend into the Valley of Hell (coordinates: 44.817682, 34.896018). A steep path made of tree roots and stones leads to it. Hell is picturesque, but we did not go down there - we went to Space and Paradise.
On the site where the sanctuary was, find dark and eerie crevices, from which a burial cold blows. Then go through the stone labyrinth and the narrow Adam's box, in the middle of which a tree grows, and you will come out to the dangerous Taurus staircase.
It is believed that the stone spiral staircase is more than 2.5 thousand years old. Whether it is true or not, the descent along it will definitely impress you. Be careful - the ladder is limited on one side only and runs along the cliff. In some places, its width is only 40 cm, and the steps are dilapidated and worn out. About halfway through the journey, you need to cross a dangerous flight over a cliff and a crevice - it's really scary. The stones are slippery!
After the stairs, go through the stone hut and go down the loose paths to the Paradise Valley, sandwiched between the mountains. With its rare trees and shrubs, it looks very idyllic, like a garden - by the way, you saw it from Space. From here, further paths lead to the top of Karaul-Oba mountain.
This valley can also be climbed by a simpler, but less beautiful path. Just turn right at the fork (coordinates of the fork: 44.819282, 34.897206). And already from the Paradise Valley to the peak and the Taurus, climb the path: 44.819879, 34.893654.
Time for the route: Approximately all daylight hours.
How much is: The trail starts in Novy Svet, near the Green Bay. The entrance to the trail is 100 rubles, but we never found a forester on the spot and passed for free. Please note that there is a charge for parking in the resort. I think you can find a place in the residential area for free.
What do you need: Shoes with non-slip soles, a hat, water, a snack, a phone with GPS and the MAPS.ME mobile application with a pre-downloaded map of Crimea.
